Technical Meeting on 17th April, 2010 at MANET
Technical Meeting of IME (I), Pune Branch was held on Saturday 17th April, 2010, at Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education & Training (MANET), Loni Kalbhor, Pune.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for interaction between our members, sailing engineers and the cadets at MANET. About 160 cadets and around 25 of our senior members (including 10 sailing Engineers) were present.
Guest Speaker Mr. A. R. Chitnis gave a lecture on “Latest Amendments to ISM CODE applicable from 1st July, 2010”. This gave an overview about the latest developments in the code and how the engineers are to adapt to the same.
Guest Speaker: Mr. Jogesh Sharma gave a lecture on
“Advancement on LNG vessels”
The presentation covered a wide range of topics related to LNG vessels
from technological advancement in size of the vessels to power
generation using LNG boil-off and latest developments related to use of
High Voltage equipment on board. The lecture was appreciated by all
attending the meeting.
Dr. B. K. SAXENA – Principal, TOLANI MARITIME INSTITUTE was special Guest at the event. Dr Saxena gave a brief lecture regarding positive attitude to the students and advised them to give their best in their pursuit to be Marine Engineers.
Interaction between cadets of MANET and
experienced sailing Engineer’s.
The Sailing Engineers narrated a variety of their experience to the
cadets attending the lecture. There after the students had a number of
questions regarding - wages, working hours, piracy. oil pollution,
expectation of Chief Engineers from Junior Engineers. Some interesting
questions were raised by the girl students regarding their safety on
ship and if girls would be given any special privileges on ships. The
Sailing Engineers responded very well with witty and convincing answers
to the students. Engineers Participating in this discussion included
Chief Engineers Mr Indulkar, Mr Naren Joshi, Mr Vishvas Mehendale, Mr
Rohit Parulekar, Mr Mokashi, Mr Anant Sahasrabudde , Mr Abhijet Kher & a
Second Engineer Mr Jaideep Barve.
Mr Sanjeev Ogale – Chairman Pune Branch, IME(I), thanked Principal Bihari , Vice Principal Deogavkar and all staff of MANET for providing excellent arrangements for the meeting. He also thanked all IME(I) members present including the Sailing Engineers for their interaction with the cadets.
