The Global Maritime Seminar, or “Glomars 2015”, has been successfully organised between 16th and 18th July, 2015 at Visakhapatnam, by the Visakhapatnam branch of the Institute of Marine Engineers, (India).
Despite very many odds, the Organising Committee, under the chairmanship of Shri. P. S. Murty, (former Vice President of IME (I)) with Shri. Amit Bhatnagar of IRS as Convener and Shri. Govind Nori, (Branch Chairman) as Treasurer, have meticulously planned and organised the global event.
21 very interesting technical papers were presented followed by the keen participation of the audience. The delegates have expressed their full satisfaction at the way the seminar was conducted and with the curtain down dinner on the 18th.
Chief Guest, Shri. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Hon’ble Minister for HRD and Education, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated the seminar. Responding to the request of the Chairman, Shri. Murty, the Hon’ble Minister announced his intention of allotting a piece of land within the city limits to the Visakhapatnam Branch to enable it to construct an office. He also announced the assembled audience that he would use his good offices to better the career prospects of the local engineering cadets... He has also released the “GLOMARS 2015” souvenir and declared open the stalls of the exhibition. Having been a ship owner himself, Shri Srinivasa Rao, evinced keen interest in the event as a whole..The three day Seminar was covered by a number of news papers.
