Does a member or his family need assistance?

Institute of Marine Engineers (India) has constituted Benevolence Fund. The aim of this Fund is to provide relief in the form of financial assistance to indigent Marine Engineers and their families. The Fund has been formed purely from voluntary contributions or donations from Members who wish to assist fellow Members who may be in need.

Relief can be provided to deserving members or to the widow, child or parent (in the case of deceased members) if they meet certain eligibility criteria as detailed in the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Institute. Applications for granting of relief from the Benevolence Fund need to be routed through the Branch to which the member is attached (or to which he was attached, in the case of deceased members), and the mandatory verification procedure should be carried out by the Branch Committee before recommending the case to the Governing Council for approval.

If you know of any member or his family who is in need of such assistance, kindly bring this to his/their attention so that they can avail of the same Appeal to all members.

Donations to the Benevolence Fund will now be eligible for income tax exemption under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act. Members are requested to avail of this tax exemption and donate generously to the Benevolence Fund. By having substantial amount we can assist the indigent members for the benefit of those in need of assistance. Your donation is for a very good and worthy cause.
