MUMBAI BRANCH SUPPORTS TECHNICAL PAPER PRESENTATION AT IMU, MUMBAI PORT CAMPUS

Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Port Campus in association with the Mumbai Branch of IME(I) conducted a Technical Paper Presentation ‘NAVACHARITAM’ for the cadets of IMU Mumbai Port Campus through online mode on 16th April, 2021. 

Dr. Sanjay Bhavnani, Ex-Chairman, FOSMA was the Chief Guest and Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Technical Superintendent, Scorpio Ship Management was the Judge and Guest of Honour. Other two judges were Mr. Rajesh Doshi, Head Students Sub-Committee of IME(I), Mumbai Branch and Cdr. Gaurav Agarwal (Retd.), of IME(I) and the Secretary DMECA. All the dignitaries were welcomed by the Campus Director, Rear Admiral Samir Saran Lal (Retd.).

From a total of 12 entries, 7 were selected for final presentations. The papers were expressive and highlighted new and innovative ideas. The dignitaries present gave suggestions and guided the cadets about their papers and presentations. While the results were being finalised, Dr.  Bhavnani had an interactive session with the cadets to clear all the queries regarding the industry. After all the debate, discussion and the interaction, the judges came up with the results which according to them was a real close call.

First Prize was awarded to the paper on ‘Enhancing the Transparency in Shipping Industry by Advancing the RFID Sensor Technology’ by Cdt. Anuj Singh and Cdt. Prakarsh Jha.

Second Prize was awarded to the paper titled ‘Modern Port Management and Technology’ by Cdt. Shreekrishna Prabhu, Cdt. Utkarsh Jaiswal and Cdt. Sourav Patra.

The Third prize was bagged by the paper ‘Alternate Fuels and Methods for CO2 Reduction in The Present Maritime Scenario’ by Cdt. Anuj Chouhan, Cdt. Vidit Tiwari and Cdt. Manish Kumar.

Two Consolation prizes were also awarded to the papers ‘Wave Energy Utilization with Kinetic Harvesters for Ship Propulsion’ by Cdt. Param Sharma, Cdt. Aryan & Cdt. Nikhil Karpatne and also the paper ‘Advancement in Sensor Technology in Shipping’ by Cdt. N. I. Shaikh, Cdt. P. P. Kamble and Cdt. Siddharth M. T.  

There were appreciations all around and the event ended with a Vote of Thanks.
